AREA15  I  Las Vegas  I  2022

Brainstorm is one of AREA15’s signature interactive installations — a five-minute immersive experience where guests move, touch, and engage to light up a reactive brain’s reaction centers, which respond to their thoughts, hopes, and dreams . Guests answer a series of guided prompts and questions that shape a personalized journey through the installation , with dynamic light and reaction patterns shifting in real time based on their responses . At the end, each guest walks away with a custom takeaway that reflects their unique thought pattern — and that’s where this deck comes in.

I designed the full 16-card tarot deck that serves as Brainstorm’s physical takeaway, translating each guest’s questionnaire results into a holographic, foil-printed collectible. The deck is organized into four archetypal houses — the Seekers, the Spirited, the Tastemakers, and the Rebels  — each built around its own visual language and personality framework, essentially a branded, AREA15-flavored spin on the Myers-Briggs system.

  • The Seekers — driven by purpose, knowledge, growth, and meaning,  visually inspired by the cosmos, the universe, celestials, and outer space  (Astral Orbit, Celestial Balance, Dark Matter, Star’s Core)
  • The Spirited — confident, energetic, and sure they can do anything,  drawing from the energy of the soul, the earth, and the force of life  (Hypnosis Spell, Phantom Hand, Shape Shifter, Soul Searcher)
  • The Tastemakers — discerning creatives who blend influences to bring unity and change,  inspired by the muses of music, art, culture, taste, and dance  (Artist’s Muse, Sacred Beat, Stroke of Genius, Tune of Harmony)
  • The Rebels — boundary-pushers who question everything to spark change,  channeling the persistence and uncontrollability of the elements, nature, and wilderness  (Aurora Borealis, Break of Dawn, Desert Rose, Divine Light)

Every card carries its own circuit-board-meets-mysticism visual identity — holographic foil linework framing a central figure or symbol unique to that archetype — designed to feel like a fusion of tech and tarot, fitting for an experience built around a luminous, projection-mapped brain. Since the deck doubles as both game mechanic and takeaway collectible, the print execution had to hold up as a tactile, keepsake-quality object as much as a piece of interactive game design.
