Northern California I 2020
This was the big pivot. We moved the festival to Sycamore Ranch in Browns Valley, and I used the flyer to signal that change loudly. I kept the crystals and the waterfall/forest pool setting from the mystical direction we’d been building, but I layered in circuitry-style linework, glowing cyan accents, and — very deliberately — a utilitarian “drive time” info-graphic panel (Grass Valley, Sacramento, Chico, Reno). That panel was a practical necessity, since people needed to relearn how to get to us, but I designed it to look like a HUD readout so it wouldn’t feel like a random Google Maps screenshot bolted onto the art. This is really the year the “nature meets sci-fi interface” identity was born.
This year I also had the pleasure of working on visuals on the Wormhole portal stage, where I designed and animated some projection mapped scenes.
